Aphrodite Theodosakos Antoniou

Aphrodite Theodosakos Antoniou, born in the vibrant landscapes of Greece, found her artistic calling amidst the multicultural ambiance of Toronto, Canada. She always liked to draw and paint, but in second grade she realized she had a special talent when her drawing of a vase with flowers captivated the entire class and marked the genesis of her artistic odyssey.

Aphrodite’s passion for art grew and blossomed into a defining force. Her high school years were adorned with accolades as her works adorned the school’s hallways, enchanting both peers and mentors alike. The allure of her art extended beyond the classroom finding a home in a gallery in Toronto and later in the vibrant art scene of Los Angeles.

Armed with a bachelor’s degree in Arts and Science from the University of Toronto and a teaching credential from California State University, Northridge, Aphrodite embarked on a fulfilling career as an 8th grade science teacher in Los Angeles while being a wife, the mother to her two children, and an artist by night. For 25 years, she merged her artistic ingenuity with scientific pedagogy, fostering creativity in young minds while honing her own craft.

A profound love for nature has always been at the core of Aphrodite’s inspiration, manifesting in her profound and captivating depictions of land and seascapes. The beautiful weather of Southern California, which allows her to enjoy the outdoors, and the exploration of National parks across America, continue inspiring and sparking her imagination. Her artistic repertoire seamlessly weaves between realism and abstraction, exploring the delicate nuances of form, color, and
motion across various mediums — from the rich textures of oils and acrylics to the subtleties of pastels, pencil, charcoal, and ink.

Beyond the canvas, Aphrodite is a published author, sharing her artistic prowess in two enchanting coloring books and a fully illustrated children’s book. Fueling her passion further, her aspiration is to continue writing, illustrating, and publishing more children’s literature, while consistently creating and exhibiting her vibrant artworks in prestigious galleries.

Presently residing in the bustling creative hub of Los Angeles, Aphrodite has gracefully transitioned into retirement from teaching, dedicating her days to the unwavering pursuit of her artistic dreams.
