Lidia Canizales

Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles to Salvadoran parents, Lidia Canizales has been drawing for as long as she can remember. Her artistic gift was passed down by her mother and grandmother, who were also talented artists. Lidia was raised in a very conservative household, but that couldn’t stop her fascination with the human body. Through trial and error, and a lot of practice, Lidia honed in on her “don de las manos.”

Today, Lidia enjoys drawing, sculpting, and painting people she finds to be beautiful and important. She loves to add all the little details that make a person unique. Her art explores all of the different nuances of the human existence, finding ways to emphasize those elements that are common to all of humanity.

Aristocratix is Lidia’s first public exhibition, and she describes herself as both “nervous and excited.” She has been an artist her whole life, but this will be her first chance to share her work with the world at large.
