With everything that Russell Johnson does, he feels the need to expand his knowledge. With that in mind, he approaches every project humbly, as if he is a novice hoping to learn more. He avoids the urge to assume he knows the best way to accomplish his vision and allows the process to evolve naturally and lead him to its natural, organic result. Thus, his work has a relaxed, sometimes casual, energy to them thanks to this collaborative approach he adopts with his subjects.

Russell lives in the San Francisco area and hopes that his photography projects the beauty of the human form in all of its shapes, sizes, and ages. As a longtime nudist, He likes to represent the full spectrum of body types in his work, demonstrating that every body is beautiful. His work is a rejection of the often commercialized “perfect body” tropes so often portrayed in the media. His goal is to show that nobody should ever be ashamed of the body they have.
