Sheila Fein

Born in Queens, New York, Sheila Fein has lived in Los Angeles since 1987. She earned her BA in Design from Buffalo State College of New York, with a concentration on drawing, painting, printmaking, graphic design, writing, and photography. Her work has been published in numerous online interviews, books, and magazines.

In addition to being a fine artist, Sheila works as an illustrator. Sheila is a PAL Artist and a member of (SCBWI) Society of Children’s Book Writing and Illustration as well as the Colored Pencil Society.

Sheila is currently working on a series of oil pastels on cardboard focused on figurative and costume models from around Los Angeles. The models are people from all over LA, from different backgrounds, careers, ages, etc. As Sheila says, “they are the faces and bodies of the figurative art movement of our time. I have been documenting them for years through my work at my private studio workshop called ‘Imaginings Sketch’ until the emergence of Covid-19. Each model I have been privileged to draw brought with them their unique point of view and the infinity of who they are. Covid-19 brought isolation to my work, putting a barrier between me and the live human figure, but it also gave me time to contemplate my work and realize just how precious time is.”
