Steven Morrell

Born just outside of New York City, Steven Morrell studied design at Long Island University, then moved into a career in advertising before returning to the arts full-time. Mostly self-taught, Steven works mainly in oils, but also uses acrylics, spray paint, or whatever else he feels will help him bring his work to life.

Steven is currently enthralled with the human form, which he sees as the ultimate vehicle for expression through all of its myriad shapes, shadows, and colors. His goal is to create an ethereal sense with his art and allow the viewer to disconnect from everyday societal constructs. Steven’s paintings focus on the nude because no clothing or other artifacts of daily life can remind the viewer of the real world the subject comes from. Even gravity is in question in his works.
