Yasaman Farmanara

Yasaman Farmanara is a Tehran-born, Los Angeles-based designer and painter. After completing high school, she relocated to Los Angeles, California where she pursued studies in fashion design. With a career spanning over 30 years, she worked in textile print design and various fashion related roles. Growing up in Middle Eastern culture that views the female form as taboo has instilled in her a deep desire to challenge those beliefs through art. She uses her paintings to express a wide range of emotions. Her female figures serve as conduits for conveying the strengths, fears, desires, and vulnerabilities we all experience as human beings. Through her art, Yasaman is challenging the cultural norms surrounding the female form and encouraging others to embrace its complexity and beauty.
